In a Decision – Lloyd v. Lloyd (an Unpublished Opinion) >> the Court Held:
The Appellate Division determined that trial counsel provided a valid ground for adjournment of a scheduled trial where the named attorney had a superseding commitment in another court. The divorce judge erred in refusing to allow a brief adjournment.
Plaintiff's counsel advised the divorce judge and defendant's counsel of the conflict but the trial judge dismissed plaintiff's complaint and tried defendant's counterclaim in the absence of plaintiff and her counsel.
