In a Decision – Hudson County Dep't of Family Servs. v. Mateo, (an "Unreported Decision") >> the Court Held:
The Appellate Division affirmed the Decision of the Trial Court determining jurisdiction as Defendant’s actions were sufficient to confer jurisdiction.
The trial court concluded that it had jurisdiction based on the COP for N.M. and the fact that Mother and the children resided in Hudson County; the trial court further founded that defendant was properly served as he appeared on the scheduled date. After defendant declined to submit to a paternity test for L.M., the trial court relied upon the COP to establish paternity for both children. Defendant refused to answer questions to establish child support, so the trial court imputed income at minimum wage. On appeal, defendant renewed his jurisdictional challenge.
