In a Decision – Ibrahim v. Mahmoud,, (an "Unreported Decision") >> the Court Held:
The Appellate Division determined that New Jersey did have Jurisdiction of Husband. The parties were married and divorced in Egypt and that proceeding awarded no alimony to plaintiff. After the parties moved to New Jersey, plaintiff filed to register the Egyptian divorce in New Jersey and for alimony.
Plaintiff contended the court lacked jurisdiction because the parties were divorced in Egypt and he was not subject to personal jurisdiction in New Jersey because there was no evidence that he resided or owned property in New Jersey at the time of the divorce. The court found that the record showed that defendant lived in New Jersey throughout the matter and the court had in personam jurisdiction over him and the authority to award alimony.
